why bantees?.. a couple of brown hylines would lay better for you and decent sized eggs..they are also good natured birds..and can make good company ( well for a chook )
bantees lay small eggs and tend to spend alot of time clucky..they can also be somewhat skatty, in my experience..

I have various breeds of chooks and find the bantams to be the least friendly and they lay teeny eggs. I love the Orpingtons for big friendly cuddliness but they are huge, smaller Orp cross breeds seem to retain their calmness. I also like the natures of Barred Plymouth Rocks and they friendly down very well especially if you hand feed them, they will do anything for food.
As Steph said Shavers or Hylines would be ideal (they are a little boring and non descript for my tastes) but they will reward you with a few years of large egg laying and are calm enough for kids esp if they are raised knowing them

bigger bird thow.. and eat accordingly..
ps..mine are possibly the most boring chooks i have ever had, always wanted BPR.. not so enchanted anymore..
where as the hylines follow me everywhere, chatting away.. and they are great gardening buddies...
i throw a snail to one of the BPR..she looks at me like im trying to poison her!
