Hi everyone. I buy the LSB magazine from time to time even though we live in town. I guess we are wannabee farmers but reality isn't matching that right now. Maybe in the future. We are lucky enough to have almost half an acre in town so we have six feathered friends that give us lovely free range eggs. We also have fruit trees - some of which are mature, others we have planted. I am learning to make time to deal with the produce when it is ready - not an easy task when both adults in the household have other full time jobs, and we have three almost-adult "children" to spend time with as well.

Welcome! Gissy is a great place and I miss all the great things you can grow and catch over there - and the 1/4 acre sections. I'm still a member on this site but am currently hemmed in on 400sq m [:0] I'm sure you will find heaps of help here

Welcome Seven Green Apples, sounds like you have the best of both worlds, almost half an acre in town, that could be a very good lifestyle, it's enough land to be pretty self sufficient, what was that program called "The Good Life".
Just think allotment's are 1/16th of an acre around 250sq mts. and considered enough to feed a family. You will be selling at the gate, if you do I hope you have more luck than us, the thieving sods used to pinch ours.

In the neighbourhood we live in, I'd just give it away free. I can't keep the kids on their way home from primary school from climbing the front fence to pick the plums. I've told them they can pick them if they are going to eat them but if I catch them using them as missiles, they'd better watch out.
