Welcome, Steve! Do you know where you're going to settle yet? Farming can be quite different from region to region, because the climates and terrain vary so much from the top of the North to the bottom of the South, and everywhere in between. Best wishes with your transition.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
Where in Malaysia are you? I worked in Sabah in the 1980's and have also visited Jahore Bahru. I enjoyed my time in Malaysia very much.
Your planned crops are both suited to warmer climates than much of New Zealand can offer and although I understand that you plan to grow in greenhouse the heating costs are going to prove expensive. You best choice of location is probably the north of the North Island as this will give you both the warmest climate and the large customer population of Auckland.
Good luck with your venture
Cheers,
Tony

Kapiti is suitable for growing chilies outside, there is a chili farm on the main highway. In general Kapiti is good for growing many things, just going on the number of market gardens there are around.
