Hi we are new was created by Scotch mist
We live on 1 1/2 acres and looking at buying some lambs/sheep. We have had steers in the past and have absolutely no idea about raising lambs/sheep what so ever! The previous owner of our new home ran 4-6 sheep so the property is well fenced. We have been getting the farmer next door to run a few yearlings so we can keep the grass up to scratch. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Unless you can buy sheep that are used to coming when you rattle a bucket of pellets, getting young sheep from a commercial breeder will need you to have a sheep dog, to get them into the yards when you need to help them.
If I were in your situation, I would get a couple of calves to eat the grass over winter.
In July and August, go around all the sheep farmers and ask to buy any orphan lambs that they have, for about $10-$20. Buy about 6 ewe lambs and 3 or 4 ram lambs, and raise them on milk powder, or if you can, buy raw cows milk from a dairy farmer.
Sell the calves in August or September.
When the lambs are 12 weeks, wean them and select which is the best ram. Castrate with a rubber ring the other rams.
About March, separate the males from the females until August so that the ewe lambs don't get pregnant. Homekill a few of the wethers. In December remove the ram from the ewes.
In March 2014, put the ram in with the 4 best ewes for 54 days for mating. Use any other ewes for homekill.

Not for everyone: I have friends who have beef in their freezer labelled by name.
