Hi

I have a 5ha land near the airport with a 2000sqm glasshouse and 400sqm warehouse attached. It is no longer operational since my parents used to run it but now not in the business anymore. I'm unable to manage it myself since both my husband and I work full time and being a mother to a 1 year old daughter, life gets pretty busy for me. It has been vacant for almost 5 years now, but I want to explore what I can do with the property. I'm not really keen to sell either. I know the property is not really a typical "lifestyle" block but I'm hoping some people here would be able to help me out.

Hi Choco, and welcome. Sounds like you have a really busy life at the moment. :D The first thing that popped into my mind when I read your post was whether there would be anyone local that might like to lease the land, glasshouse and warehouse from you? It seems a shame to sell it if you think you might be able to use it yourself in the future. Sounds like a very nice little place, actually, with quite a bit of potential.

Look forward to hearing other people's ideas.
Cheers, Mich.

Choco, there is a good demand for rental glass houses and they should be easy to rent in that area which is good horticultural land.
Go to any horticultural supply place and put up an ad to rent them out.
You may need to look up the yellow pages because I dont know places over that part of auckland
There are a couple in penrose area, one I think is called pacific growers and another is called hort centre or similar and there is an outlet at drury. Otherwise p.g.wrightsons if there is one near you
They might be able to give you some ideas of the value per square m
Otherwise trade me may have a classification that could work.
I would imagine you should be able to find someone to lease them as flower growers in particular are always on the look out for such a structure

Hi,
Me and my father are looking for glasshouses to rent and if it's still available, we could be able to rent it from you? My father had been the the glasshouse business for over 20 years and he knows his ways with glasshouses. If it is available/want to rent please get in touch with me! lol - was going to suggest that you find someone who can rent the glasshouse out - but it seems you're already onto it.

If you have a good patch of dirt, why not plant some fruit trees - heritage for your children and grandchildren. Even if you only pop in two or three a year for a few years, you'll end up with a lovely lot of fruit, and as it's beautiful soil there, I'm sure they'll be utterly delicious!
