So, I'm finally writing something...

Oh dear, where to start...

we're thinking of our own piece of land to grow vegies and have some animals as well for quite some time now... but really don't know whether we are really able to do it!
- Neither OH nor me had a lot to do with farming before, despite growing up in more or less rural areas (in Europe, English is not our first language [])

- When we came to NZ we planned to pay a deposit on something suiteable with the savings we brought with us - but unfortunately it took almost a year for OH to find a job while I got some underpaid part time work for the first 1,5 years (to scared to quit earlier as Visa depending on this job).

Long story short: not really a lot for a deposit left and almost 4 years older now... :eek:

We now had the funny idea of a sort of apprenticeship on a farm/LSB.
To help with the daily work, everything that needs to be done. You might even have time for a break!
No payment, just food and accommodation.
Crazy? :rolleyes:
is it even legal?
What do you think?

We still have no land after that but that's then another story...

Yes it is legal - this is the sort of thing the WWOOFERS and Helpex people do. You would work in exchange for food and board. Whereabouts are you? We have food, beds and work

I know WWOOFERs but we are waaaay older than all of them I met so far. And we'd probably like to stay longer than just a few weeks to really get into the 'thing'...
We are in Wellington right now but would go anywhere.

Yes, raining here quite heavily - a pity as I have to go outside and work and I am going to swelter if I put on wet weather gear

We have had a number of WWOOFers in the grey-haired set, and they have mostly been better than the youngsters, both in their work ethic and their skill at conversation. Of we still had our WWOOF accommodation, we'd invite you down to Canterbury!!
