Hello there, we are new (funny that!) to this forum, however long time readers of Lifestyle Block.
We have just purchased a property in the Western Bay of Plenty - only a third of an acre, but enough for us at this stage. Currently the property is mostly paddock-like (with the exception of a steel pipe, about 30cm in diameter and about 2m tall in the middle of said section - apparently the past owners had a cow tied to it!), however we have aspirations of putting in a small home orchard (currently there is a hedge of feijoas which are overrun by jasmine, a very sick looking mandarin tree, and a twisted/tortured looking small guava), and running a few chickens and maybe a pig, along with a decent sized vege garden (and selling excess produce to fund the garden).
Looking forward to the challenge of the section (let alone the house... we used over 15 litres of bleach cleaning the horrid-ness, but the place is now liveable) - I have some fairly grand schemes in mind, but these things never work out how you imagine them to start with!
Hi there and welcome! I can relate to the comment regards the house! We bought an unrenovated 1920-30s bungalow which I wouldn't live in . Took six months to demolish the interior and rebuild, but it's just lovely now! My $60K reno blew out to around $100K, so be careful !
