Hi,

Been watching for a while and finally signed up. Moved to our 2ha 20min NW of Hastings 4mths ago, with hubby and now-1yr-old son.

Since been given 2 chooks (have owned them before despite us both having only ever lived in town), planted a small orchard, and just been given 4 largish pekin ducklings, with a sheep on its way to us soon.

Getting a few more sheep (maybe Romneys or Southdowns - suggested as easy temperaments for beginners) and keen to get a v quiet dexter cow and heifer calf, or a couple of heifer calves to halter-train, for milking and selling/eating the calves.

Generally dabbling in everything and trying to achieve a bit more self-sufficiency (in part to justify buying a nice big block away from town and being at home with our boy full-time).

5 acres, southdownXromneys (3 ewes, a wether & a ewe lamb, 1 hogget for xmas dinner), boerXkikos (2 does and their wether and doe kids), silkies (black pullet, gold hen, white roo), light sussex (hen, pullet, cockerel), muscovies (2 blue/gray hens, a black and white drake, a couple of ducklings with...

Welcome TandS :D ...we are nearly neighbours :p

On the subject of sheep ... we just happen to have Romney girls and I put our pedigree Southdown ram over them ...therefore ...we have the perfect sheep for you[;)][;)][;)] If you are looking at getting a few and want to come and have a look at my babies you would have the choice of approx 74 lambs[:0][;)]
my lot are all very very quiet and perfect LSB sheep I have used the Southdown ram for 2 years now and LOVE the cross ..all are docile and so so cute (always a bonus) ..my lot are well handled and do anything, go anywhere, for a few sheep nuts:rolleyes: and are very very tame[^] Great feet, FE tolerent, easy lambing , great Mums and an awesome all round sheep:)
I always try to get homes for my lot before they go on the truck :( so if you are thinking of this perfect LSB sheep breed ..let us know ...no pressure but i could not let an opportunity go by if there is a chance of finding a home for my babies ..much better than the alternative :(

and just to tempt you here are a few pics from this years crop :D [}:)]

My girls love cuddles and keep secrets too!!!

OK Mum...if you won't get up I will drink anyway!!!

How much would you want for them? Any chance you could deliver if we were keen?

Hi TandS ...we just ask the price we would get for them at the works :( ....not sure about delivery as we don't have a stock trailer ...we picked Wally (our ram) up on our trailer with improvised containment:rolleyes:[}:)] (old bed things and gates to keep him in!!!) where there's a will there's a way[;)]

Wally arriving here in his trailer as a 2 tooth ram :D

OR you could always travel them in the car[:0] well Stu_R (LSB member on here) did last year when he bought Biggles the ram (Wally and Mildreds boy) to be his girls baby maker[:I][:0]

Yell out if you are interested ...I am sure we can work something out ...and Stu I am sure will tell you what a neat type of sheep I breed.
Cheers

:) Biggles is a big boy now ( well he thinks so lol ) .. he went in as a 5 month and 3 day old ram lamb at tupping time .. he fathered at 200% from the ewes .. lol and got 2 of last seasons young lambs pregers to and 2 singles from them
:) he has thrown lovely fast growing stocky lambs to my pure bred " Designer " ewes lol
Biggles got weaned by terralees hubby and i tossing him in the back of my wagon to bring back down here .. :) he has a lovely nature, is friendly enough, will eat out of your hand , come when called .. but if you make a noise at him he is gone :) .. just the way you want a ram

:) can totaly recommend Terralees sheep , have met them all a couple of times ( well not this seasons lambs lol ) .. all lovely natured girls and Wally is a cool dude :)

:) Oscar would make a perfect ram i think for a small flock :) .. or Wooly Baa Lou :)

5 retired Greyhounds ( Bridgette , Lilly, GoGo,Sam and now Lenny) 15 friendly sheep all of whom are named and come when you call them :) , 2 goats, Mollie and Eee Bee :
Olive trees , .. old bugger doing the best he can with no money or land :)
