Hi there,

Not wanting to state the obvious, but "Hi there, and guess what? I'm new to LSB!!" Moved into 10 acres about 2 months ago close to Oxford and loving everything about it!

Currently have a couple of chooks and a K9 that is enjoying her new found feathered friends!

Plans....golly gosh, don't know where to start. Build a chook house, plant some more shelter belts, get some baa's soon hopefully and maybe some moo's later on. All for the meat..ie no wool or milk.

I have a million questions so best I go start searching as I'm sure it's already been covered many a time.

So hi to everyone...and thanks in advance (coz we gonna need all the help we can get!!) :o

Sandy

:) hi ya SanCha :) and welcome to the LSB cyber family :)
lol nah am sure the chooks are more rugby league fans and the Sydney Roosters :)
:) but if you invite them in for drinks on the France NZ game they will probably support France :) .. could be a good evening :)

A France supporter tried to smuggle a rooster into one of the games recently. He was stopped by security but the newspaper story didn't say what happened to the rooster!

Haha....well i guess it would be understandable for the girls to support france now wouldn't it? Although they do tend to follow me around Steph, I don't think I'll be inviting them in...not enuf grass and bugs to scratch around in/for LOL

That's quite a gathering you have there Stu!! Are the Akita's long or short coat? I've only ever seen pics of them, they seem like quite the companions though :o)

How on earth do you smuggle a rooster?? Now I bet that put a smile on the security guys face, makes a change from booze I guess!

Great to meet ya'll...look forward to hanging out on the threads.

I believe that the rooster was arrested by police and spent the night in custody at Central.

My chooks don't like rugby. :( We live near Eden Park and on the opening night the fireworks and hovering helicopters were not popular with my girls! Tonight and tomorrow we have two more big games - don't be surprised if my chooks phone noise control to lay a complaint. ;)

Well my chooks phoned noise control to complain about La Marseillaise being sung too loudly. But I don't think the operator understood their complaint: "bok bok bkok bwaark bok bok."

So they called talkback radio instead.

LOL !!!!

Hi to SanCha - welcome to this site :) I am a relative newbie myself, we also recently purchased our 10acres and have two horses, four little baby red shaver chicks i am raising, two month old lambs we are raising, one dog (Boxer), two cats, two children, one husband - and coming soon 8 Angus X calves to raise :) Full on!!

I am loving it - as by the sounds of it so are you! This is amazing for us, and although very busy, i just am loving watching all of my babies growing up! This site is great, the people are so helpful - and some great debates to weigh in on!

Hope you enjoy your time here! Sarah :)

Hehe @ LindEggs....it sounds like it could get quite noisy too. But my oh my...what a game. Do da All Blacks rock of wot??!!

@ Lillies..Starting to thinking about getting some sheep but some say they're a good place to start and some look at us like we're mad!! Guess we're mad coz we figure the only way to get the experience to look after sheep is to get some. My partners Father had been around sheep for years so we will gleam as much wisdom as we can from him. Sounds like you have quite the setup there...I is jealous [^]...maybe this time next year we will be boosting a bit more livestock ....and lots of elephant garlic hopefully[8D]

woohoo...
