Greetings One and All -
Just a quick note (prompted by the Moderator) to say hello to everyone.
We're on a small block (8 acres - hectares, well that would take an effort to be certain, but about 3.2, I think) on the outskirts of Wanganui - five minutes drive from the mainstreet.
The property has been a 'lifestyle' one for at least 150 years, judging from the ages of the specimen oaks, limes and ashes that we have the good fortune to enjoy. Another good gauge of age is the way the house keeps falling apart.
We run the usual farmyard menagerie but our prime interest is in growing a few good beef animals for family and friends.
Oh yes, I've been here over twenty years and on the land all my life - but I'm definitely still on the learning vector.
(I came into this site in discussing the curing of meat. And my contribution is hopefully the first of a few more in other spheres of interest).
PS. I'll complete a formal Profile as soon as I work out how.
Cheers
Ed

Welcome Ed! Old house here, too, though not quite that old, and yes, it's a mission to keep it all in one piece, eh? (DH just found a bit of dry rot in a floorboard when we moved a bookshelf the other day... sigh....)

Hi Ed and welcome. Remember to not tell anyone that, if you are, you are trading meat with friends, and tell them to not tell anyone. It is very illegal ....

Howdy LR
Thanks for the welcome and, I assume, the well meant advice.
I would hasten to point out that I haven't got a meat stall at the fleamarket.
I'm moderately acquainted with the law and pretty sure I rarely break it.
I'd love to get the kids to pay (for anything) but they'd only smirk and remind me that once you're a father you're a father for life. As for friends, well, there's ways around that, isn't there?
Thanks though, the information is valid.
