Hi, I'm Angie, I've moved reently to Whangarei, and am currently renting in the country, gardening madly and trying to be as self sufficient as I possibly can in these circumstances. I have just joined the local bee club, and am looking foward to learning lots there, I want to try to grow my own mushrooms on logs, just have to get hold of the logs and spawn first. I have just put a winter vege garden in, and it is loving a boost from the proceeds of my worm farm. Currently trying to establish a berry garden as well.

My family and friends are inundating me with fruit and veges of all kinds, I'm having to very quickly figure out creative ways of using them all up... I hate waste :)

I was raised Organic, so I do like to stick to natural remedies for any issues, and I am looking foward to learning heaps from you all, and getting to know you. :)

My plans in the med to long term are to buy some lovely partially bushclad land locally where I can eventually build an eco house, and have a permaculture small holding.

I have 3 sons who range in age from 7 - 2 years, and we have all come back home to NZ from 10 years in Brisbane, and are absolutely LOVING it!!

Hi Angie and welcome :D I've recently moved to Helena Bay, just north of Whangarei, to a prartially bush clad block. We're off grid and just about to start building our eco house. We haven't yet got our vegetable gardens started but we need to get onto that soon...

Good luck with making your dreams come true :D

Cheers
Kate

Hi Angie,
Welcome to the forum. After 10 years of the virtual madhouse called Brisbane, I can understand why you like living again in a cooler climate and peaceful surroundings.
We are still in Brisbane but plans are advanced to shift to Tasmania.
You'll love the forum, lots of good honest people with experience and advise.
Best Wishes,
Jan. Brisbane.

Hi Jan.
So, joining the exodus to tassie hey? I know quite a lot of people who have done it, and actually we were considering it seriously for a while there, it is so beautiful, ALMOST as lovely as NZ ;)
When do you think you might make the jump across the ditch? Might be an idea to wait until it warms up a little! I hear it is getting cool down there already...
I hope house prices are still sitting lower for you, that was one of the major attractions to the place for us, stretching the dollar a bit further.
