Hi, what a great site! Our family packed up and moved from a small townhouse in the city to 1 acre in 'the middle of nowhere' (according to all our friends!) So far, we have planted some fruit trees (most have withered), have started a veggie garden (only crop to survive was brussel sprouts and husband and kids won't eat them) and re-homed 6 chickens (have yet to get a single egg). So, we need a little 'assistance' to say to least
We are loving every minute of it!!

Hi and welcome to the site from over the "ditch"................Everyone has "chooks" on this site so I'm sure you will be "overwhelmed" with help............. The "key" to vege gardens is compost, compost and more compost......................Hope all your "new" fruit trees go OK..............Don't be afraid to ask "any" questions about farming on this site ,because "whatever" the problem, someone here has"had it and solved it"...............T.O.R.

Welcome OratiaMomma
I can empathise with your fruit 'n' vege dilemma!
Upon moving onto our current property, I found a strange plant in the vege garden and nearly turfed it out before deciding to first find out what it was - a peach/nectarine tree [
]. For over a year the tree suffered with curling red leaves so, believing all hope was gone for brave little plant still determined to sport its spring blossom, we had it chopped out....only to discover that its disease could have been easily cured by applying a copper solution [
!]
Live and learn!

Brussels sprouts are hugely popular with our children. I can take them or leave them alone though and my dad just won't eat them. They (brussels sprouts) grow very well here too even in the coldest weather.
