hey.
is that 4 years for real lsbers or for the 1 acre lawn brigade? Why would anyone sell their lsb unless their buying more land , more remote, perhaps with a castle?

Welcome! Probably just easier to make a milking stand for your horned goats. There are lots of simple plans on the internet, especially the one on the Fiasco Farm website.

We've been at this LSB thing for going on 11 years now, and only wish we had the dosh to upgrade to more land.

Don't listen to the doom and gloomers!! They are everywhere and about everything- but you don't have to go there! Just be prepared for lots of hard work , commitment, mistakes and learning , in return for satisfaction in a job well done, self reliance, abundance, wisdom , -and pleasure! There will be tough times but that is life! you will learn to see them as a challenge and an oppportunity for growth and learning.
And goats totally rock!! As long as you learn their needs and have good fencing!
I have 3 darling saanens - i am no expert but may have advice if you need it - enjoy!

That four years is untrue - it's the same as houses, about seven years. I can't find the link but the four years is not right.

As Andrea said, it's pretty easy to make your own milking bale :D

Cheers

My dream is enough land to be able to fire a heavy calibre rifle in any direction from the house porch and know that the spent bullet will fall on my land. Like the castle with dragons and piranhas though. How about electrified barbed wire around the perimeter?

Seriously though, do you need a head bale for your goats madeit? We don't bother. We just clip a lead onto their collars and tie them up on the milking stand. If they are a bit wild we tie their back legs too. Much easier to handle than a reluctant cow.

Hi madeit, and welcome. I'm truely glad that you are finding the LSBing fun and an interesting experience. Long may it continue.
Unfortunately .... There are some aspects of LSBing that are a worse experience than hell. This is where this website is so very useful to those of us that have not experienced that hell. We can ask questions and get information to help us and our animals much, much faster than we used to be able to do.
Also unfortunately, it is the unusual and sickness aspects that are more interesting to those of us that want to help you and your animals to avoid the mistakes that we have made with our animals. Writing a list of good things does not let those people that are here to help assist you.
So ..... have fun, learn lots, do things, but ...... always, always, always remember that the things that must be done will not be fun.

from spending all day in the sun and wind and rain, working butt off to fix up fences, to sit back on the deck with something cool and watch the stock walk up to your new fence and push it over.. gotta laff :) ..

its not all hard work.. laff at yourself and the animals and you will thoroughly enjoy it...
