My name is Martin & I run an Alpaca Stud in Ohoka. I am passionate about alpacas, genetics & breeding quality alpacas.
I love all animals & am about to embark on breeding Pekin bantams. I have always had a few chooks but never found the time to breed them. So, any information would be most welcome - especially about lists of good breeders in Canterbury, what colours they specialise in etc.
If anyone has any alpaca questions -please ask...

Howdy neighbour- well in the same area- not into alpacas myself but have had Pekins. All they seem to breed is roosters !!

Welcome! We're just up the road a bit. No alpacas here, or Pekins either, but lots of other chooks. Try Barry Lochhead for Pekins - they're up Waipara way, but have some really lovely stock. His contact details are on the rare breeds website - breeders directory - www.rarebreeds.co.nz

Hello from down the road in Swanny. We don't have alpacas, but one of my son's friend's family is a local breeder. I have always thought they are beautiful animals, but we tend to grow what we can eat. Our chooks are a mottley bunch, so can't help there, but Simkin knows about local chook breeders so hopefully she will see this thread.
