Hi there,
Hubby and I (and our baby boy) bought 1.5 hectares in Sth Canterbury about 18 months ago. Lots to do both around the house and outside, and I'm sure this place will be the source of a heap of info. Hubby is from a farming & shearing background, I'm a stay at home mum and an amateur gardener who is keen to learn LOTS
Got us a sleepy cat, a portly kunekune, some chooks that came with the house and are no longer laying, a handful of sheep, 2 paltry raised veggie beds and a tight budget.

Hi & welcome from fellow newbies. You will find it perfect for bringing up a young family. We brought 4 up here & used to hand milk so the kids always had yoghurt, butter etc, a big budget saving. Once you can utilise the garden, you will be able to make soup. It was always a joke with our lot ( as we were on a tight budget too ) that we always had apple crumble on the nights we had home made soup. A good filler upper!

Thanks for the welcome
Yeah, looking forward to getting the vege garden up and running. I've only got a few bits in so far although I'm pleased to have got some asparagus planted at last!
