Living in pommie paradise

We are from the UK. We came to New Zealand partly for the adventure, but mainly because we wanted some land. IN the UK 1 acre was out of the buget let alone 10. We swapped an excouncil semi detached house, no garage for 10 acres of land with detached house and four garages (one double garage is now a cottage to rent out for B&. This forum told us not to buy this place as the land quality was so bad. So we ignored them. Yes the land quality really is that bad, but we love the solitude here - no neighbours at all. Gardening here is hard due to the lowest rainfall in NZ and some of the highest summer temperatures, but we wouldn't swap it for anwhere else.
We have a herd of goats. OH didn't want them as he thought they were nasty smelly bad tempered things, that was until he owned one and found out he was wrong (at least for female goats). We have tried sheep and don't want any more - too much like hard work.

Hi, Another pommie, came here four years ago, needed space and got it, 10 acre block in rural Waipu, Northland. Lovin it to bits.
