If it wasn't for Yakut today I wouldn't have realised this forum was here!!! It is a great idea and although probably not as busy as other areas of the website, I reckon it ties in another important part of lifestyle culture.
As some of you know I own an art gallery and art school. Today we completed a fabulous photographic weekend workshop where Yakuts partner was the tutor....some great results using the Picassa software programme.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to the posts here and I will chip in with ideas where I feel I can help. I have access to a lot of resources and have spent 20 years in the art world.
Yakut's glass study of Hannukah is amazing and very well sculpted.
Cheers,
HP

I did a wee detour when coming back from Pukekohe a couple of weeks ago HP and drove past your cafe/gallery, was going to stop for a coffee and say 'hi' but must have hit the tail end of the lunch crowed (goodness, those above the Bombays have a looooong window of opportunity for lunch! [}
]) and it was absolutely packed! Great to see it is all going so well for you guys.
Take a break...while I take care of your home, your block, your pets, your stock! [

Kim does the photos for the gallery website. There are several artists whose work comes in and unless Kim is there when they deliver their work, she doesn't get a chance to phtograph it before it's sold and gone. I was there a week or so ago when a women who does Raku fired animals and birds came in. She and her husband talked to H.P while she unwrapped her work. They then went into the cafe and were having coffee during which time one piece was sold, wrapped and had gone to a new home.
I'm looking forward to the Studio 'Stu Dee O' opening, complete with kiln and areas for washing brushes and stuff, lots of floor space and plenty of room for art lessons.
There have to be some budding LSB'ers in this area that would like to try their hand in one of the workshops. H.P and Dee are great, they show you how to do 'it' and then you have only your imagination limiting you. ('it' being mosaics and soft stone sculpture and clay work and painting in all sorts of different mediums and good grief, any number of artistic choices.)
