Aura Spinning wheel

Well I weakened and bought one and it's fabulous!
So much easier to spin with than the rumpty old traditional wheel I was using, it makes spinning an absolute joy. The dual pedals make it a lot easier to work and so much better for my posture, and the beautiful silent running and the quality finish on the rimu make this a fabulous wheel even for a beginner like myself.
I managed to spin up half an Arapawa fleece in a weekend and am finishing off the rest of it in a nice fine yarn.
I also bought a lace flyer because my dear hubby has volunteered me to make up another wool shawl for one of our USA business partners. [:0] The first one was apparently a huge success so I've been asked to make one for the CEO's wife as well. :rolleyes:
The new bobbin tensioning system is very good, and it's super controllable as long as you understand how it works and set it up correctly in the beginning. I had a few issues at first with draw on as it didn't seem to be doing anything but realised that the bobbin band had not been tensioned correctly or it had moved in transit so made some tweaks and the results were astonishing!
I can get 0%-100% strength in the pull onto the bobbin along with speed variations so you can have a slow strong pull or a fast weak pull and all manner of settings in between depending how you twiddle with it. It'll be fabulous for making art yarn for my loom and other projects. [8D]
Love it to bits already and can hardly wait to make more stuff on it - I have a black very fine Arapawa fleece which will probably end up as the special shawl......

That is so good to hear, do you mind if I pass on the post to Majacraft? It's nice for them to get positive feedback, encourages them to keep doing their best! Can we see pictures of it, the results...something? I really must learn to spin as it sounds like it would be a lovely calming pastime and I am always wanting more yarn for crocheting.

I suppose so...
Here's my Aura, you'll get to see the results from it when I finish spinning the fleece up!
I have already plied 2 full bobbins from it [piece of cake compared to my old devil wheel [}
] ] and I am waiting to finish spinning the rest so I can wash it all together and skein it.
I am making up a special farmers jersey for myself from it. [

I will look forward to seeing the yarn and the jersey! Is that an Over Drive head on the Aura?

No it's the standard Aura head. Cool eh?!
I bought a ceramic hook for the flyer which works wonders with lumpy homespun yarn as it just glides through.

This is what I'm currently spinning. It's fine and quite short staple Arapawa wool from Tuakau ewe. Most of the ladies at our spinning group said they thought they would have problems spinning it up as its quite short but I've managed fine so far on the Aura!
