jerseys made from dogs fibre was created by germanshepherd
A good friend made a jersey out of samoyed (breed of dog) fiber a few years ago.It is light but very warm.It was mixed with sheeps wool as the samoyed fiber comes apart if used by itself.
Has anyone else used dogs fiber?

Makes sense :D I can contribute lots of residual hairballs from here if anyone wants to try their own?

I love my possum merino jerseys, with the possum fur blended in, sooo warm and soft.

A friend had Newfoundland gloves with Samoyed snowflake as a pattern. The Newf hair is finely crimped so doesn't need to be mixed to stay together. It stays in carpet really well.[;)]

Oh i love newfies.I know some people who have a very over weight female.
Well i use my metal leaf rake to pick up the easy to see dog fur and i vacuum about once a month to pick up the fine stuff. The rake only seems to work on some dog furs like german shepherd but doesn't seem to pick up samoyed fur very well.

I'm taking a fibre course and dog hair was mentioned as clothing. Can be lovely to work with and wear however if the garment gets damp it has a tendancy to smell 'doggy'. Not sure how you would get rid of the 'scent'. Good luck!

Try one of the brushes with short, fat, conical rubber "fingers". They work well even with my dog's very smooth (it sheds dirt!) hair, so may work for Samoyed.

samoyed fibre has no doggy scent.Husky fibre would be similar..I have been told not to save male dogs fibre as it often does smell but fibre off a male samoyed should be ok.I had a male alaskan malamute and his coat did smell.
And Hawkspur I do have a really good comb for my girl.it looks a bit like that overpriced furminator but is only $14.It has two sets of tines.
I LOVE grooming dogs.Years ago i advertised to groom dogs for free but i only got one call to groom a gorgeous black male malamute/belgian shepherd cross

You wash the fibre, and it then has no smell...

I knew a lady, a long time ago, who had a pair of long haired german Shepherds and she used to make their discarded hair into jerseys for the family. Seemed to work very well.
Sadly, both her and the dogs are long gone :(

I was under the impression that only dog fiber that had that thick undercoat could be done

Poodle wool ought to be good, and is great for people who have dog hair allergies. How you get rid of the dog fleas though, I don't know.

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

fiber from a samoyed would also be good for those kind of people
