Can anyone tell me what One Sided Fusible Peltex is and where I can get it from? or if I can't get it in NZ what is similar to it?

I'm making a bag and it's used at the ends and I think the bottom of it.

I did a qick check on the internet and the only thing I came up with was something for making your own greeting cards. The explanation for peltex is a 'thin batting' used for padding. And I guess if its fusible it means it can be ironed on. Have you access to a Spotlight store or a good fabric shop? They should be able to help you out. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck with your project.

If it's thin batting then it could be used for the ends and side of a bag i.e. to thicken and stiffen it so it sits nicely. There should be alternatives if that actual product isn't avail;able.

Its strange because they list three different things you need for the bag so goodness knows why they didn't just keep it simple...it says
fusible woven interfacing (they suggested Pellon Shape-Flex)
fusible fleece (which they said they used Thermolam Plus by Pellon)
and then the fusible peltex

The interfacing I got was quite a stiff one (probably to stiff for the sides really but oh well) and the fleece is quite thin so I might just stick with those two materials for the whole things and not worry about the Peltex - another site likened it to timex???

Would an alternative be to use something like Steam-A-Seam or other applique 'fixer' (which is readily available)? Iron it to the fleece, remove the paper and iron the fabric/interfacing on.
Cheers, Mich.

It is a fusible interfacing, here is the blurb I found on one site about it.

A one-sided fusible, ultra firm, smooth and resilient stabilizer for accessories, crafts, home decorating and quilting. It's unique vinyl carrier helps prevent fusing mistakes and makes it easy to use. Perfect for adding the loft and firmness needed to turn fabrics into sculpted bowls and boxes. Use your imagination to discover the many uses this product will be perfect for!
