The tractor one is for a boy who has just turned 4 and the horse one is a project on the go for a birthday 18th July for a little girl turning 8 and who is horse mad. Next project is a quilt made of trees????? going to be a different project. he has given me permission for a Kiwi to be under one of the trees, thanks our 12 year old grandson. Then their mother has put her order in for one using squares and triangles, and that one may be a bit boring after the exciting ones I have been doing for the rest of the family.

Wow[:0]. Most impressed. Is the farm scene one embroidered or is it a picture printed on material.
Could you make a living from making them? How long does one take?

The farm scene is made up of lots of pieces of material and then appliqued so that they stay together, you use stuff called visofix, and hot iron it to the back of the material, then cut out to the shape you want, then peel the paper off the ironed piece, then hot iron it to the material that you have chosen for your background. When ironing it, use greasproof paper between the iron and the visofix, or your iron will end up being sticky, once ironed in place, then you applique around the subject, in the case of the tractors and the farm scene I just used a small zigzag stitch. The tractor quilt took me 3 months to make! so I dont think I will ever get rich making them.. currently working on a Tree quilt for another grandson, have done the main scene that is a lake and mountains, with trees each side of the lake, and we decided that he did not want the bear that was in the pattern, so have added 3 kiwi as a little family in the front of the picture. Its all pinned together, the backing the filling (batting) and the front, ready to start sewing, I will do the scene, as one piece, then think about what tree blocks I can use, and will do them all as seperate things. That way its easier to sew and get the quilting done on it without killing myself, trying to get the thickness through the arm of the sewing machine.

Finished the horse quilt, will forward to our lovely Kate to put on the site, now for the tree quilt, I have done a centre of the lake as promised, and have now to do 4 corner trees, then have sorted out with the future owner that I can do NZ bird blocks and NZ material, so that will make it easier to get it done.
