Let's get crafty!
I'm sure we are a bunch of very talented gals (and guys), who do more than just quilting (no offense to the quilters lol)
So.....what else can you guys do that's crafty?
Me.....I have been known to do a bit of painting on canvases, but since having 2 young kiddies, I don't really get to do much these days. I love sculpture and would really like to give that a go at some stage. Recently I've been trying to make my own bread from scratch (no breadmaker)....most have been ediable! lol A long time ago I did a carpentry course, so can whack together a few pieces of wood, haven't done anything overly creative with that though

On another note, I was hoping to find some ideas here. Me and a girlfriend of mine have decided to do a craft swap once a month. We have a small cardboard box, and when we catch up once a month we're going to take turns putting something in the box to give to the other. The rules are 1) it has to be homemade, and 2) it has to fit in the box which is approx 20cm square. She has the box first so I'm looking forward to my first surprise soon! hehehe It can be a nice surprise, something edible, something funny, whatever we like....

Now, I express my craftiness/creativity in my gardening and in my food. Nothing fancy, just productive and delicious. [^]
TBH, when I saw the "Crafty Place" forum, I can't imagine anyone on an LSB having a lot of 'free' time!

I love home DIY too. When I met my OH he was shocked to find I had a bigger tool shed than him, and that I could actually use (most) of the tools. I'm enjoying jazzing up second hand furniture. I bought a cheap tall cabinet from TM last year and it now looks like a shabby french armoire. Next project is a heavily varnished chest of drawers, which will be stripped and repainted for the spare room. On saturday I picked up an old wooden ladder which I'll sand back and use as display shelves.
I'd also like to try making stuff from chicken wire, have seen an idea for heart shapes, with shells and beads wired in.
I can't sew my way out of a paper bag (although I've tried at various times in my life) and I'm in awe of people who can. I have great ideas for furnishings and a stack of fabric that I just look longingly at, including some lovely fabric to make cushions with, but can't bring myself to butcher it. If anybody knows some who can make cushion in HB, please let me know.
I love to bake and that always goes down well as gifts, especially at xmas.
Would love to try mosaicing (sp?) and may well have a go next winter. Di I'd love to see some pictures please.
It's lovely to give and receive something hand/home made in times where every thing seems to be mass produced in China/Taiwan. An afternoon wandering round a craft fair is heaven and I'm always on the lookout for a little stash of handmade gifts as emergency pressies.

I do always add the egg/oil and extra sugar. The oil and egg make a more kind of chewy sweet kind of bread which is how these rolls should be (in my mind anyway!). Happy eating.

I have spent about 3 days turning wood since I bought this place, a couple emobroidering and a couple of weeks making curtains, but that is it, have the time

I've tried most crafts over the years; the latest is spinning. Was given a spinning wheel, and are slowly starting to produce some that resembles yarn more than anchor chain. My problem is what to do with all the finished article? I don't particularly enjoy knitting, and it's going to be a long time before I get to the point where what I'm spinning could be used in a loom - going to get one of those I think... have a friend who wants a home for hers.
Problem is summer is looming, and so is preserving season. Been trying for over a week now to get a batch of lemon honey made from the over abundance of eggs we have. Tis good to be busy

Need to start posting some photos of our handywork!
I got my first homemade gift from my girlfriend yesterday....it was a small jar of homemade bath salts, made with milk poweder, epsom salts, bicarb soda and a few other things. With a little handwritten card and a bow around the lid, really lovely. Will be trying it out tonight!
