How to kill Carrot Weed

Hi guys, just trying to get all winter stuff sorted now so I don't run round in a blind panic like normal!!

Last year we got our local farmer to use Pasture Clean on our place to kill the Carrot Weed which worked well but unfortunately only one paddock was done - we would like to do this ourselves this year so we don't have to rely on him.

Anyway, can anyone tell me what we can use? I don't think you can buy Pasture Clean now (probably wrong tho!) - we need something to just kill the menaning Carrot Weed & not the grass.

Sorry for the long post - have a rambling issue quite clearly

Spot spray with MCPA. 20 litres costs about $150.

MCPA my boss says too Dinks... it will knock it out for sure.
Make sure you confirm the witholding period for your horses though.
Also, get a guy to do the spraying - it's quite dodgy for women to spray...! You can also get a dye additive to your sprays that will show where has been sprayed etc... which is quite handy.

Re: How to kill Carrot Weed

Cool thanks SB Mum & I so one of us will be spraying it unfortunately but no doubt we will get all the masks & stuff like that so we will try to be safe.

Thanks Viki - the paddock we did get sprayed only had a little bit which was awesome compared to the paddocks that weren't sprayed. It just gets so thick so quickly!!

Thanks guys - yet again a very helpful site

Re: How to kill Carrot Weed

Ooh, next question - what is the best time of year to spray? Our local farmer normally does his Juneish - is this the best time??

Thanks again

Cool Dinks... just make sure you wrap up really well etc and spray early hours - so less drift etc. Depending on how long it'll take you - it might be worthwhile getting someone in mate... search for my post on "Fencing Contractors in Rodney"... or search for Fossie - he might be able to help you and is nice and close to you also.

Why is it worse for women? It is a hormone spray, but that is plant hormones, not animal ones...and you shouldn't be getting it on yourself anyway. If you take the correct precautions it should be okay for either!

Mind you, I could use that line to save myself a lot of work and get hubby to do it all instead
